About Clearhavn

What is Clearhavn?
Clearhavn is a private case-organization tool for family-law matters — custody, support, protective orders, and related proceedings. It helps you document events as they happen, attach evidence to specific events, track upcoming hearings and deadlines, and prepare a clear chronology for court or attorney meetings. Clearhavn does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for a licensed attorney.
Who is Clearhavn for?
Clearhavn is built for two main audiences: self-represented parents preparing for custody, support, or protective-order hearings without a lawyer, and clients of family-law attorneys who want to show up to meetings organized with a complete chronology and labeled evidence. The product works the same way for both. If you have an attorney, you can give them read-only access on the Pro plan so they can review your case at their own pace between meetings.
How is Clearhavn different from a spreadsheet or shared folder?
A spreadsheet works fine until it doesn't — usually around 50 events, when search breaks down and evidence gets disconnected from the events it documents. Clearhavn is designed around that pattern: every event has a date, category, severity, and its own evidence attachments. Issue tags surface recurring patterns automatically. Court-ready exports turn the case into a one-click PDF chronology or a zipped case packet. A shared folder of screenshots can hold the same raw material but doesn't connect screenshots to the events they document, surface patterns over time, or produce an exportable chronology.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. Clearhavn has a native iOS app and a web app, with the same case syncing across both. Android is on the roadmap. The web app is fully featured; the mobile app is built around quick logging and reviewing on the go.

Organizing your case

What can I organize in Clearhavn?
Events with dates, descriptions, severity, and per-event attachments. Court orders. Children, parties, and witnesses. Hearings, deadlines, and exchanges on a calendar. Tasks. Documents (court filings, GAL reports, orders, correspondence). A journal for notes that don't fit the event format. Everything connects: an event can link to the order it relates to, to the witnesses present, and to its own evidence attachments.
Can I attach evidence (photos, screenshots, audio) to events?
Yes. Each event can hold attachments — photos, screenshots, voicemails, PDFs, documents. They are stored under your account and stay linked to the event from the moment you attach them. When you export a chronology or case packet on the Pro plan, the attachments come with it so the record stays connected.
Can I track upcoming hearings, deadlines, and exchanges?
Yes. The calendar holds hearings, deadlines, custody exchanges, and any other dated events you want to track. Clearhavn sends email reminders ahead of items you want to be reminded about, so the things that matter don't surprise you.

Working with an attorney

Can I share my case with my attorney?
Yes, on the Pro plan. You can invite an attorney by email; they get an account that can view your case — chronology, evidence, witnesses, court orders, documents — but cannot edit anything. They can review on their own time, at their own pace, between meetings. You can revoke access from your settings at any time.
Does Clearhavn replace an attorney?
No. Clearhavn is an organization tool — it helps you keep your case materials in one place and produce a clean, exportable record. It does not provide legal advice, advise on strategy, file documents, or argue your case. For legal advice about your specific situation, consult a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.

Privacy and security

Where is my data stored and who can see it?
Your case data is stored in a managed Postgres database. File attachments are stored on Cloudflare R2 object storage. Only you can see your case, plus any attorney you have specifically invited (read-only). Clearhavn staff do not browse your case data. Review the Privacy Policy for full details on collection, storage, and access.
Can I delete my account and all my data?
Yes. Account deletion is available from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your cases, events, attachments, documents, and any pending invitations. If you had an active Pro subscription, it is canceled at the same time. Deletion is permanent.
Does Clearhavn share my data with anyone?
Clearhavn does not sell your case data and does not share it with third parties for advertising. Specific service providers (e.g., the database host, file-storage host, email provider, payment processor) handle data on Clearhavn's behalf as needed to operate the service. The Privacy Policy lists the categories of data and how each is used.
